Are you being tricked!

Halloween is right around the corner, are you being tricked or are you doing the tricking?

Halloween is just the beginning of a long holiday season…Thanksgiving is next, and then Christmas. It’s a great time of the year but also can be a torturing time of year for those of you that are trying to monitor your weight.

I want to give you a few ways that they try to trick you into the temptations of falling off during Halloween and then I also want to provide you with a few of my own tricks that you can use to still enjoy this time and not pack on all those extra calories. Let’s control this Halloween candy urge, and have a good start toward this great holiday season. Enjoy this fun time with the family but do not be tricked into all the extra calories that you can consume. You can still have fun during this Halloween and do it guilt free.

Dirty Trick #1

It’s Halloween, you got to eat candy!  This is not true! There are a lot of other things you can do on Halloween to take the emphasis off of candy. What about have a party, dressing up in a fun costume, etc…

It does not have to be about the candy! Yes, these candy treats can be fun and add to the experience but they are also high in fat high and empty calories filled with unnecessary sugars that will make and keep you fat!! These Halloween treat calories can add up fast so check out how you can do the tricking instead of being tricked.

Coach JC’s Trick #1

Substitute healthier treats. Be creative with your kids….My mother used to bargain with me and my sister to trade our stash of candy for our favorite treat from the health food store.  Sometimes she would even trade cash or maybe bargain to stay up just a little later on a school night. Reward your kids for making good decisions! Be prepared to bargain other treats for your kids stash.

Why not try apples? Cut them up into wedges and get creative by dipping them into low fat dips. Try caramel, fat-free vanilla yogurt, dark chocolate or one of my favorites -peanut butter.

Look out for these high-cal Halloween treats.  Calories add on FAST!!

Buy less candy, give away less candy = You eating less candy!

Yes, it’s that simple!

Dirty Trick #2

Get as much as you can! Who can collect the most candy? Yes, this is fun for the kids but could be deadly for you as a parent trying to stay healthy and fit. If you must buy the candy then buy it for the kids, not yourself!

Don’t get sucked into the trap of all this candy and nothing to do with it but eat it. Still have fun and collect that candy but make sure to try my trick so that you don’t pack on all those extra calories. And remember; buy the candy for the kids, not yourself!

Just Toss It: After Halloween night, just toss it!

Enjoy Halloween and make it a fun time with the family but when it is over it is over. So many people pack on these extra unwanted calories the week following Halloween because of all the left over candy.

Just toss it!!!

The Big Post Halloween sale

This is more of a post Halloween trick when all of the candy goes on sale 50%-75% off!

Don’t get sucked into this! Why do you need the candy, because it is on sale?

Self Control! I love the coupon queen and I know that she can save us all a lot of money but I don’t care what she is telling you about how you can save money buying this Halloween candy after Halloween. It’s pretty simple… Take Control! Don’t Buy It! And if for some reason you have to buy it then buy the kinds that you don’t like.

Why have it accessible to you in every room of your own house?

There will always be another sale!
